Nicky Dare at VAPI 2025 – Representing Indonesia

Live Pencak Silat, Balinese & Javanese Dances | Los Angeles

Nicky Dare, a proud Indonesian-Javanese-American, was raised in Texas in the 1970s after immigrating to the U.S. as a child. For over three decades, she has called Southern California home—leading with purpose, culture, and community.

On May 10, 2025, she returned as an official Indonesian Ambassador at the 4th Annual Valley Asian & Pacific Islanders Festival held at Pierce College in Los Angeles. Representing Indonesia with honor, Nicky led a stunning showcase of Pencak Silat martial arts and traditional Balinese and Javanese dances—co-presented with the Indonesian Consulate of Los Angeles.

“I was raised in Texas in the 1970s, but my Indonesian roots never left me. Today, I stand in California honoring both.”
– Nicky Dare

This free event, hosted by the West Valley-Warner Center Chamber of Commerce and Pierce College, drew families from across LA to experience over 50 cultures in a single day of community celebration.
